Description

Brandywine Sudduth’s Strain is one of the most prized large pink Brandywine tomatoes. Broad potato leaves and a rich, intense flavour distinguish this variety, grown especially for eating fresh.

The pink fruit are flattened, often with uneven shoulders and light ribbing, and commonly reach around 400–900 g. Fleshy slices combine sweetness with gentle acidity and work particularly well in salads and sandwiches.

This strain traces back to Doris Sudduth Hill, who passed the seed to American seed collector Ben Quisenberry. She reported that her family had kept it since about 1900; seed-sharing networks made it widely known during the 1980s.

Tall, indeterminate, open-pollinated plants need strong support for their heavy fruit. Maturity is about 80–90 days after transplanting. A rewarding choice for a large slicing tomato with pronounced flavour.
